What is credit monitoring?
A credit monitoring service acts as both a personal assistant and watchdog when it comes to your credit. Members can access TransUnion's credit report monitoring service which gives you frequent access to your credit history. The service monitors your credit reports and alerts you whenever there are changes to any of your accounts, such as new accounts being opened in your name, a credit card balance increase, or negative information like a late payment reported by one of your creditors. This helps you stay on track with maintaining a healthy credit score.
What credit monitoring services does My ID Protection Plus provide?
My ID Protection Plus, powered by First Watch Technologies, offers the following credit monitoring services through TransUnion:A once annual bureau credit report and score.Single bureau credit monitoring with email alerts if applicable.
What should I do if I get a credit alert in my email?
If you receive a credit alert from First Watch Technologies, follow the instructions in the email.
I don’t recognize the activity showing in my credit report. What should I do?
Once notified you can contact the service for restoration assistance or you can take several actions:
For new, unauthorized accounts you can contact the credit issuer and get the account shut down.
If you have unauthorized charges on existing accounts, you can file a dispute.
If some information on your credit profile is inaccurate, you can request corrections.
Can I get more than one free credit report a year?
Our Three Bureau Credit Report Access and Reminder Service can automatically send you a reminder email every four mouths to request a free credit report from one of the three major credit bureaus. You can opt in to this service on the My Profile page.
If I have credit monitoring, why do I need identity monitoring?
First Watch Identity Monitoring was specifically developed to address identity theft and fraud, and is more than just credit monitoring. We place a personal phone call to you at the telephone number that you provided on the My Profile page to discuss the suspicious activity with you to determine if the activity is fraudulent. If you recognize the activity, then we update your file. If the activity is potentially fraudulent, then we will advise you as to the steps you need to take to protect your identity.
What is black web monitoring?
We scan internet directories looking for your address, email address, and phone numbers listed on the My Profile page. You have the option of adding an additional postal address, two additional email addresses, and two additional phone numbers.
Will I be charged any additional fees for filing a claim?
No. Your plan includes this service and you will not be charged any additional fees for filing a claim.
